What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Richard, thats a great record. Got it on vinyl. I tried another of Isobel Campbells records (a collaboration with Bill Wells) and it was terrible. I thought it was a very bad attempt at contemporary jazz.

I like effect the the full orchestra and Burton and Garbarek give wonderful solos. For those not familiar with Weber's work,it may be a little slow, but his bass is outstanding and detailed on my Naim system. The Nino G. beatbox solo injects energy into the proceedings.

Anthony

Personally I prefer the SACD of this and you can find it cheaper out there. As I find it more detailed and a fuller bass. But others prefer the original Dennis Drake pressings over the remasters and the MFSL.

Now before you go and say I don't have a sacd player well neither do I. It is the redbook part of the hybrid disc I play.
