What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Really nicely packaged Almost Famous OST on heavy vinyl from Classic records. Side 4 is just tracks by Stillwater!

Less boogie more blues.

Another hire from the library. Unfortunately T3 jumps ,why can't people look after other peoples property?

I bought the original as well. I need to compare them both properly but the MFSL on first listen is smooth and you whap the volume up with no distortion
I have done that for years ,with no distortion .Got it on now ,love it.Please post what you think.

munch, where do I start more extension up top, great depth, deeper bass you can literally pick out each single string thats plucked on the guitars. Instrument seperation is excellent

When he asks Bonnie Raitt to come in on the second track you can hear the reverb on her voice and theres real space round it. It is a fantastic recording and smooth. When she starts playing the slide you can hear the slide action on the strings.

It seems to get better when you turn the volume up. Guitars split into each channel it really is good.

munch don't hesitate for one second get yourself a copy I cannot recommend it highly enough. Mine is the Japanese UD version so don't know if the UDII has a slightly different sound.

Ewemon - Raging Slab are a sort of dust kicking southern boogie band in the same vein as Monster Magnet. If you like 70's style rock with a southern edge, you'll love 'em. Someone once described them as "like Lynyrd Skynyrd, but cool", and in response they released an album called "Pronounced: Eat Shit". Well worth checking out.
