What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

I've been too busy to listen to the music lately, but at least manage to put on a late-night chill CD.

Dear Tam

Thanks for the tip.

I will certainly explore that too - a very familiar story and one that quite scared me as a child. A story like Hanzel and Gretel really appeals. This is an excellent series of recordings. I also enjoyed The Magic Flute and Paul Bunyan that you recommended - excellent entertainment.

Many thanks, Rotf

Munch,

I thought As Is Now was pretty good as well. I splurged and bought the import vinyl (import for me at least).

On Myspace after a great review in the garden. Rather mellow and Icelandic and almost 'Churchy'

Victoria Hart on Myspace to hear what all the fuss is about. Very pleasant. Just signed for millions to Jamie Cullen's label. She was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar etc.................

Click here to listen to Out of the Rain - according to the web site the samples are for Mac users only - not sure if it'll work on a PC.

Cyrene,
that is probably one of the worst recorded records around......which is a real shame as it has some great songs on it. The last good record they did.

Bach: Disc two of the Archiv Mono Organ Integral played by H Walcha which starts with the C Minor Fantasia and Fugue, and ends with the A Minor and B Minor Preludes and Fugues...

This is blindingly abstract music, which conveys emotions and feeling simply unexpressable in words. Walcha's austere way only highlights the very depth of this music. Like the very late Beethoven Quartets played by the Busch String Quartet!
