What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

BY ewemon I have read good reports about this one but what is it like in your opinion BigH47?

I have only listened once and it seems a bit more immediate than Front Parlour Ballads (last 1 I bought). Saying that it is an "electric" album. There is some great guitar work but I have not had a really serious listen/look at the lyrics to see if it matches up to previous works. It's looking like at least a 8.5 out of 10 I'd say.

One of the best hard-bop trumpet solos ever on that title track IMO.

Is that the CD version?
If yes is the vinyl any better?

BigH47,
it is the cd version......I would assume the vinyl will sound better, but at the end of the day its the recording which is at fault. Its been recorded very loud instead of well without compression.

I've got Absolution on vinyl and its very well pressed so I would assume this one to be similar.

All the best
