What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Is that the CD version?
If yes is the vinyl any better?

Don't believe it's been released on vinyl yet.

Fantastic album though. Let those Knights of Cydonia ride!

Currently Mozart's (so the writing credits aren't quite as clear cut as that) second piano concerto K39 from Ashkenazy and the Philharmonia. But the slow movement remains a favourite.

Very much enjoying this set (one of the most complete, including the four early concertos, the concertos for 2 and 3 pianos and both rondos) which is still crazily cheap on Amazon:

Oh no - I think Munch's storm has reached Endor. A minute ago, I was listening to the sound of thunder!

Time for a power down...

Munch,
Frode Haltli (what a name...) plays accordion (which some here know I have a weak heart for...) The rest of teh musicians do not overload teh scenery, at all. Remarkable contributions by Maja Solveig Kjestrup Ratkje (...) who uses her voice in a most "instrument" way. The rest ist viola and trumpet, so try to imageine what teh resutl is. As said: Not always easy to digest, but absolutely unique in their way of music making.
