What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Greg Brown's daughter featuring Bo Ramsey on guitar. Not widely available- not as good IMHO as her first.

I think so; their most recent album was only last year but I don't own any others. They did the Fleetwood Mac thing to excess; shagging, falling out with each other.
Very much of it's time though and those leading girrrrls may now 'fit' as well into today's rock tapestry.

Apart form Eek what do you reckon? I have Carbon Glazier which is pretty good, but pretty much a 'Winter' album.

Great songs - but not the highest of fidelity on this collection of live at Beeb bits of the Incredible String Band. Somebody at the BBC lost some of the original session tapes so a few songs are recorded from the radio broadcasts.

Astonishing recording on 200g vinyl. No clinical flat sounding digital here.

"Recorded in analog and mixed to 1/4" 15ips analog tape, the sound is better than almost any other Hooker recording. Transferred from the original 1/4" analog tapes by Bernie Grundman using Classic's "all tube" cutting system, gives this release a warmth and comfort it has never had."
