What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Sounds a bit dated - but has a certain charm.

Not one I would have associated with your usual preferences ROTF!

Hi Chris

I have it on vinyl - I was given a box of German elpees some years ago = I've been going through them to decide which ones I still like - this is one of the better ones = I think it sounds better because it's in German. There are some fine albums by Karat and City and the Nina Hagen Band amongst them. I also found a Finnish album in the cupboard by Juice Leskinen's Slam that's quite nice.

PS - I also found 5 Steely Dan albums that I haven't played for years = perhaps I should move them on to somebody who still likes Steely Dan: I wonder if there are any Steely Dan fans on the forum.

I have an ellpee of "Help" on the Hor Zu label that I bought in Berlin in '65, when my father was posted there by the army. Does that count as a German album?

Come see the golden light,
Because I've turned the gold light on.
Sometimes, God knows, you've got to
Learn to shine on your own.

I step out of the darkness
And for a moment I'm only living by your kiss,
And just for now our flesh and blood
Is no more real than this

Hi munch, Chris - I guess everybody who likes Steely Dan has the first five albums on original vinyl or their preferred format - do you know anybody who would like them?

Are we allowed to give things away through the forum? It's not a for sale thing so I hope it's OK.

BTW - Will be playing my Petula Clark triple CD set while travelling in the car today - a contrast from Nena Kerner.

Enjoying a sly listen on some headphones at work. I came across Sonya as the support act to Joe Jackson a month or so back. One Diccus and ROTF might enjoy. Check some samples on MySpace
