What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

A shame to have missed her playing at the Orangerie.
I really enjoy her Weber concerts
Absolutely right, Mark.
(At least I have a autographed copy of her Krommer/Spohr disc, which is on the market, some weeks now.

quote:Sure: A huge barrel organ ist the central part of this musical puzzle. All pieces (in range from Eric Satie to Scott Joplin...) have been writtten (or arranged) for this instrument. Accompanied by Sabine Meyer, her brother and soem other woodwind players. Swings like hell, brings back children days (at the run-about), etc. Great fun..
Stefan
Thanks - sounds really interesting; added to my list!

"These Things Move in Threes" Mumm-Ra. Purchased on a whim from Amazon. Terrific psych-pop in the modern idiom. Thoroughly recommended. It's good to know there are still inventive young bands coming through.

Hi Chris
This album keeps coming up in my recommended albums list and have been wondering about it. Just listened to some of the album on My-Space and it does indeed sound very good - it'll be on my next album order. Apparently the band described their music as their escape from life in Bexhill-on-Sea, which I've always thought of as a really nice place.
Thanks, Rotf

Buy with confidence. I bought it cos it was in my recommended list at Amazon! Sucker or what!
Bexhill is a fine place but probably a pretty dull place to grow up! Anyhow, it inspired some very good music making! I'll be interested to know what you think - I think it fits into the boundaries of your normal selections!
Sounds damned fine on my enhanced rig - as does virtually everything!

Inspired by some posts in the padded-cell I thought I'd play this excellent record by the Strawbs.
