What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

good old Tatjana Nikolajewa, playing Bach (Ricercare, French Suite, #4), Shostakovich, of course (4 Preludes and fugues) and Beethoven's fabulously played op.111 in Salzburg
Not well suited for a Willy Contest, but a live concert to remember.
cheers

I think this may be one of the CDs that they've recorded too loud - there are times it sounds iffy on two different systems. Nonetheless it's MCC and it's another great album even if not as great as Come On Come On - which I notice is selling on Amazon at £3.97 almost as cheap as a copy of the Daily Mail and 146,891,233 times better. Why Shouldn't We stands out on the Calling.

Wilco - Sky Blue Sky - such a good album! Perhaps a plus point, perhaps not, but I've noticed several musical themes through this album eg Neil Young and this evening I particularly noticed Genesis appearing eg the last track where the synth and drums were pure Genesis at their best. Now that might scare some people off...
but really, it shouldn't deter from enjoying a great album.

The thoroughly excellent recommendation by ROTF is in the same league as Karine Polwart but softer and warmer............ and like being huddled round a warm fire in winter with a hot mug of horlicks.

RAK - Morton's Foot
Have to confess that this is one of my all-time "test CDs" I take along when I want to know about the quality of a system, especially speakers. But hey, why not use great music to test equipment ?
cheers
