What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Today I bought a 3 LP box set of the London Philharmonic Orchestra performing Handel's Messiah on Deutshe Grammophon from 1973 for the princely some of £1.50 in perfect order and its my first exposure to this and well, powerful and emotional comes to mind.
Picture only a guide to what I am listening too, cannot find a picture of the box set.
Dean..

..I must be in a mellow mood tonight (no really!) ....what a voice ..even if she may be a little mainstream for some jazz afficianados ...The DTS version sounds wonderful ..crackin' ambience (not at all un-natural use of surrounds + the upright bass sounds spot on)

Dino Saluzzi - Kultrum (the first one, solo...)
Magnificent...

Haim, "Graffiando Vento" means (Gian, correct me, if I'm wrong) "Scratching the wind". Very poetic title...

Thanks Stefan.
Their music is much more than scratching the surface.. wind would be perfect.
And now another delightful Italian:

Ignazio Albertini / Sonates pour violon & basse continue / Helene Schmitt / Alpha

Jet,
Are you going to join Diccus and I in September for his gig at the Sage?

Not difficult to see some of his influences from this compilation. Fascinating and enthralling.

Bloomin heck didn't think anyone else on the forum liked his stuff.
Hello ewemon,
Great album, I play it quite often. I've just ordered 'Giants', (released 2005) the samples sound very promising. 'Glass Stories' however, I won't be buying.
Regards
George.

I don't know if anybody has noticed, but I really like HMHB

So how about a new album from the four lads who shook the Wirral?

Yes it is. I really have gotten to greatly enjoy her music. I also had the chance to see her last month. Very good show.
