What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Hi Stefan!
Indeed not summer easy listening pop.
My friend got it in an antiques shop in Trieste.
There was no time to look at the hundreds on the shelves.

Was it worth the year long wait - yes, yes and yes again. This is every bit as good as Cruel Sister. I thoroughly recommend The Bairns to anybody who likes adventurous folk music. If you want easy listening then look elsewhere, it's more Scott Walker (think Tilt not Walker Brothers) than Kate Rusby (two artists who can do nothing wrong in my book). The sample track Felton Lonnin will give you some idea of what to expect, but the tracks are so different from each other that a single track cannot convey just how diverse the content of this album is - it's all folk music, it's roots are traditional, but it's feel is 2007.

However, I am starting a long weekend with Miles which is relaxing after a crazy last week.. I've picked up a bunch of jazz records tonight.

Kuma,

Try to find an early british mono copy of KOB if you can. It makes every other version sound like a cassette tape.

dave

Yeah right dave.

I don't want to pay over 500 bucks for a record!
just wanted to listen to *So What* is all. Smile

Too bad the Miyabi isn't back yet tho. This is a kind of tune it excels at.

p.s. the consolation is that this copy is better than any CD versions I own.
