What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

With the festivals now over, so I actually have a moment to do a little listening. Have just finished Lee Morgan's The Sidewinder (one of a couple of discs a friend lent me a few weeks ago to broaden my jazz tastes a little) and have now put on Jansons and the Concertgebouw playing Mahler's 1st symphony.

Emerson Lake & Palmer -Pictures at an Exhibition [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED] [LIVE] [MFSL]

ok munch,
I've finally listened to them both this afternoon. The Original Let It Be is a reissue unfortunately. I have the original US issue, but it's too noisy to play.
For a good bits, the *Naked* is excellent for ultra low surface noise and fidelity. Someone did a good job manufacturing this record.
I always thought that 'the Long and Winding Road' can do without that schmultz full orchestra.
A simple piano following Paul's voice in the Naked is just lovely.
But all'n'all, I still like the original. The Naked version sounds...well.. too naked and laid back. The performance seems to be more relaxed and the recording sounds very natural. I miss some build and energy that the original had.
My mate, an avid Beatles fan, was listening from other room liked them both. ( which was a surprise. )
It's a good record, but I'd still grab the original if I needed a *let it be* fix.
p.s. Did I read you've got a Sondek?
If so, congrats! ( hope it has an ARO on it )
p.p.s. Thanks for the Julia Fordham's Porcelain lead at the PFM. I've sourced a sealed copy! ( got lucky! )

Arrived today - the sound is just fantastic that is really what I think, BTW which one's pink.
Just played the bonus CD and it's fantastic, now started on Piper. Initial impression is that this is the best Pink Floyd release ever.
