What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Always loved that album. Thought it was one of his most underrated.

I have it on DTS-Audio DVD... Though I can only watch the cover and the disc now since I've sold my DD/DTS-receiver about 2 years ago...

Mitsuko Uchida's rather disappointing second disc in her Beethoven sonata series.
Much as I admire this pianist, her style simply isn't suited to the Hammerklavier, or even the op.101.
regards, Tam

Droodzilla,
Marcelo Zarvos is a composer and piano player from Brazil. He is playing here with a group of saxophone, cello, double bass and precussion players:

munch,
If you like Steely Dan, get the Cisco reissue of Aja.
It's good.

munch,
Not that I know of. MOFI copy is dreadful so stay away from that.
I wish Cisco would do 'Katy Lied'.
MCA US Release on a LP12/VR/HL2/SC/W5000
Sounds better than any of the CDs I have!

It's that My Old School syndrom again. Did Diccus point you in the direction of Myspace re the encore at Hammersmith?

That's the one Dave Alvin disc I never really got my head around. Will have to give it another go Matt. It'S maybe one of those that's a grower on me. You should pop onto his web site and get the live disc that was only available at shows. Personally I love it.
