What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Great album. I actually bought it in Fredonia, New York many years ago. Never been to Freedonia though. Marx Brothers may have been I believe.

Did you hear their new life duo CD (Hank Jones / Joe Jovano) ? Pretty compelling, and "old style" w/o being too backwards looking. I like it.

Stefan - it's in the post. I like this one even if it is a little striaghtforward. This evening has been a Wayne Shorter session - anything but straightforward, finished with Beyond the Sound Barrier

The Last Valley (OST) by John Barry featuring The Voices of The Accademia Monteverdiana - surely the best choir I've ever heard.

Glorious, beautiful, moving, exciting ... 35 mins (approx.) of pure class.

Jimi Hendrix-Axis Bold As Love

I have been in a Hendrix mood this week. I hadn't really listened to any in quite some time. I remember now why I first enjoyed his music so much when I was a kid.
