What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Gianluigi,

Interesting, Never Say Die is a good but not exceptional JT album.

I'd rate JT, Mud Slide Slim, Hourglass, New Moon Shine and particularly the live album ahead of that.

But there are no bad JT albums. Winker

Is this her new album? what's the title?
I heard a sample of the latest recording this week on the radio, it's sublimissimo Big Grin her voice is like silk and velvet altogether...sensual...almost erotic...WOW

Morning delight:

Modern Times Ensemble fur alte und neue musik.
Five Divertimentos of Joseph Haydn & a Mozart oboe quartet.

Stefan, the picture reminds me of the one which you came up with your own 'tighter' compostition.

Regards,
Haim

This CD (fresh from the oven....) is a real sensation - recorded 1967, long "lost", copies or vinyl samples were paid with solid gold, now re-discovered, and re-mastered by two of the master minds of the scene (Mauksch & Pauler). This is one of the corner stones of German Jazz post-war emancipation from American Jazz. Hardly more than 30 minutes, but pure pleasure to listen to.

Contender for 1st place (2007)...

happy,
Stefan

John Illsley with Cunla and Greg Pearle 'Live in Les Baux de Provence". Really excellent live album, with JI on lead guitar and an excellent band, runnning through the Dire Straits songbook plus some Neil Young, JJ Cale, Dylan and Cohen covers, Really good fun. And he can play!
