What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

I'd rather drink some Desperado's (which are named just right for the mood Roll Eyes)

Now there is a first. I have never enjoyed it before, so I must be getting older and wiser!

I was surprised to notice that the Paolo Fresu CD ended with Händel's "Lascia, ch'io panga" (which I adore in the recent Kozena version, Huw...). Cecilia Bartoli starts the CD with exactly this song.

Kate Walsh - Tim's House again

Worth checking out her voice on her My Space site. Been playing this a lot since seeing her on Monday.

My Ipod on shuffle clearly felt of a certain mood and just played:

Come Home Baby (PP Arnold and Rod Stewart)
River Deep Mountain High (Ike & Tina)
When you're young and in love (The Marvellettes)
Shake a tail feather (Ray Charles version)

in order.

I am now trying to peel myself off the ceiling.

Denis, is it any good? I'm waiting for the limited edition vinyl edition of Fear of a Blank Planet which has this on one side.

Probably have to wait for my birthday though as Mrs S caught me ordering it and she will almost certainly get to the postman first.

Nil Recurring:

Without stealing Denis's thunder, yes it's good. In the same vein as, though slightly less oppressive and gloomy than, Blank Planet (but then I don't think that album's anywhere near their best). Some nice Frippery added. About 28 minutes long.

Thanks Gary,

I don't think there is such a thing as a poor PT album.

Hi seagull,

Only had my first run thru late last night on headphones. I will give it the treatment tonight on the 'Briks' and report back. I'm sure the SE LP will be the Dogs and really looking forward to the whole package.
