What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Number 3 again--- the third time today. Even heard it on BBC radio 3 this evening on the way home from the gym.
We are going to a live performance of it by the Lithuanian Phil in the next few weeks too. Astonishing piece!

Hello Haim, I await my own copy of this, should get it by early next week : )
How enjoyable do you find the musik on this album?
I've always loved the sound of a well played recorder!
However, my soprono/descant is out of the draw it's been in for the last 5 years and I'm currently amusing my cat with my very elementary performance ; )
kind regards ~
nymph
Hi nymph,
I am sure you will enjoy Verbruggen a lot. She has also excellent discs playing Telemann, Vivaldi and Bach.
Though Handel is less known for his chamber music, it is his recorder as well as his violin sonatas which I keep coming back to.
Regards,
Haim

Hello Haim,
It arrived this morning with a Michala Petri double CD also... i'm rather smitten with both!
The chest organ played by Ton Koopman gives an earthiness on the first 4 tracks that sounds unusual and strange to me but on the 5th track, and start of Sonata IV, it opens up nicely when Koopman tranfers his play to the harpsichard, now i can hear Linden's violincello better which is always a pleasure.
Yes, Marion Verbruggen is excellent, if i could play my recorder half as well as her, i would be very happy : )
kind regards to you Haim
