What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

ewemon,

Sounds pretty good to me, saw them live at the Sage last night with Diccus.

Although they have been around ages, they are a new band to me, and my first record by them. The set last night was the entire album as originally recorded. The cd includes additional guests, Ryan Adams, Vic Chesnutt, Natalie Merchant and Jeff Bird and a DVD of the re-recording in the original setting.

Margo was very sweet and came out afterwards to chat with the fans and pose for photos and sign things etc.

What other discs of theirs would you recommend? The encore consisted of tracks from other albums but the only track name I remember was something along the lines of "Murder in the trailer park".

Regards

Nic

Is this any good Nic? I used to have most of their discs then went off them and have taking a liking to them again. So off to the shops for me.

Well thanks a lot!

Larry (via Gianluigi!) -
You've got a weight of responsibility on your shoulders! On the strength of your recommendation, I've just picked up a copy from our local record shop - on vinyl (and it's a small rural market town record shop!).

I think the proprietor sees me coming...!

Anyway, looking forward to giving it a whirl later. Smile

I guess I'm one of those MK fans who thinks he can do no wrong. I like all of his works.

Gianluigi has a very good description (see below)
"Last Knopfler's album.
More folk than electric and more exotic than western.
Smoother than the other albums.
Guitar is melted in the music."
imho"

I do agree.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Larry

You seem to like that album a lot Jeff. Tell em is that the same Michael Stanley that used to record as The Michael Stanley Band in the 70's? I remember his first disc had Joe Walsh on it. God I haven't heard him in years.
