What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Working from home again.

There is no castle on the hill i tell you!
My house is detatched enough to have little concern with neighbours, and putting up a curtain pole is not very noisey. I work nightshift so i sleep in my coffin during the daylight hours... and one needs good curtains to block out the rays ; )
I used to have Peter Gabriel - Games Without Frontiers on vinyl which was quite good...
What is this one you have like?

kind regards ~

Free- Highway (my all time favourite band), Greg Browns daughter Pieta's fourth album. Best yet and finally Ryan Bingahm supposedly a Texas Woody Guthrie would not go that far but say he is a cross between Steve Earle, Black Crowes (Marc Ford produces) and a whole host of other artists. Fine album though.

Jim,

where did you source the image ?

if amazon.com

enter the band/artist name in search and click "go" (note-if large catalog sometimes help to enter title as well)

whwn you get the band/artist catalog, there are small album covers, click in the album cover you want to use and you will get a "detail" page of that album with a slightly larger image.

do your control click or "copy" command on that second image.

under the second image is also an option for a jumbo size ("see larger image") if that is your preference

hope that is of help

Agreed James,
and 2 or 3 of the tracks have a very distinctive 'Shadows' guitar style/sound.

As munch said that one is his second lp, his first four solo albums are all excellent and highly recommended. They are

Peter Gabriel
Peter Gabriel
Peter Gabriel
Peter Gabriel

Games without frontiers was on the Peter Gabriel lp.

I prefer his solo stuff to what he did with Genesis.

Currently listening to Miss S's hamster in its wheel.

Dandelion Years: 1969-1972 [Box set] by Kevin Coyne, which contains the two Siren albums: Siren (1969) and Strange Locomotion (1971) as well as Kevin Coyne's first solo album: Case History (1972).

These, as the title suggests, are Kevin's recordings when he was signed to John Peel's Dandelion label and before he recorded several albums for Virgin and finally Cherry Red, before he very sadly died in 2004.

Kevin Coyne had a fantastic voice - Case History is the pick of this set, but it is all worth a listen.
