What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Cabaret Voltaire - Live At The Hacienda 11.08.83

Saw them twice in the early '80's, fan-f*cking-tastic. Rotating back projection being the highlight of second show.

Nag, nag, nag just shuffled on in a moment of pure joy!

Just loaded this on the iPod for work....

These, as the title suggests, are Kevin's recordings when he was signed to John Peel's Dandelion label and before he recorded several albums for Virgin and finally Cherry Red, before he very sadly died in 2004.

Kevin Coyne had a fantastic voice - Case History is the pick of this set, but it is all worth a listen.

Strange Locomotion - a gift that was given to me even before I bought my own first "serious" LP's (Pink Floyd, then...). A Masterpiece ! Today, on CD, of course.

Had to take back the first copy, bad pressing spinning the new one now, sounds great!!! (One advantage of buying from a bricks and mortar shop, Sister Ray in this case).

Picked up in Sainsburys last night. Very nice "girlie and guitar" music.

Gian, it's great.

I've been playing it on and off all day. It's got some cool lyrics and is more melodic than I was expecting.

I've never been a big Radiohead fan; I've only got The Bends and Amnesiac, but this has really surprised me, and made me want to check out all their other stuff. And that's partly the idea behind the download, I guess.

Don't take my word for it though. Go to their 'In rainbows' website, and within about ten minutes you'll be able to hear it for yourself.

Heard it yet, Gian?

Big thanks to Geoff P for his recent Raven thread for inspiring my latest purchase, and small thanks to the Royal Mail (at last!)

Right now, I'm listening to...

LOVE it, thanks Geoff
