What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Matt this is your fault. You have started me off on the Reggae tonight.
Oh well, there are worse ways to spend the evening. Enjoy!

Munch/ROFT,
Glad to hear I am not the only one enjoying this. I've played it endlessly since seeing her live a few weeks back.
The lovely Kate signed my copy
Regards
Nic

Just listened to the Mozart's Magic Flute Overture played by the Philharmonia Orchestra led by Otto Klemperer.
If ever there was a lyth muscular performance of this which perfectly balances the interplay of lines with swift momentum then this is it.
It is nice to have such a great band as the Philharmonia playing with such good humour and obvious affection for the music. What a band, and how they play this wonderful gem!
I plan a Mozart morning! Next up Clara Haskil with the Guerzenich Orchestra, Koln [also led as it happens by Klemperer] in a concert performance of the B flat Piano Concerto, KV 595 [No. 27] from a live radio tape from 1955 on the US label Music and Arts. Great fare!

NicNaim and i got a signed copy after we saw her supporting Richard Hawley. She was lovely. I think Nic likes the cd more than me but i've got female singer songwriters coming out of my ears - which I think it quite a novel party trick

Alco,
Diccus and I saw them at the Sage recently. He was already a fan, but I was new to the band. This record has really grown on me over the last couple of weeks, great stuff.
