What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

From the Level 42 front man.
I remember an interview with Mark King a few years ago and he said he made the decision to stop being the worlds best bass player and wanted to become the worlds richest bass player

Sounds like Pentagle meets Incredible String Band in Coventry with Ian Anderson influenced vocals - not bad at all really

Re-listening to this one:
Steven Demetre Georgiou, now known as Yusuf Islam, at his very best: Where Do the Children Play, Wild World and Father & Son on the same album - he certainly was a cool Cat.

Yes it is, Kuma.
I always preferd Haden playing on duos, where I found his music to be more profound and intimate. I have him doing duos with Chris Anderson, John Taylor, Pat Metheny, Egbert Gismonti and Hank Jones, and I enjoy all of them.

Metal Box by PIL. Inspired by an advert on the "wants" page on PFM to dig out my rusting copy from the archive. Vinyl in excellent shape due to difficulty in getting out of the tin, and not realy being grabbed by it first time around. Sounds pretty good, but I have had a few...but then again....too few to...

Fourth Brandenberg, Wenzinger. This ought to be re-released. Such a shame music making of this quality should remain sealed in some vault in DG Headquarters!
It shows that there is no needs to play to the gallery or force the tempo. It lets the music entirely speak for itself, through a wonderful sense of style an ease. Brilliant!

Richard Thompson...Live from Austin.
Bought this last night where I saw him live at the Bridgewater Hall Manchester.
I had never seen him live before, a superb concert and can recommend this CD.
