What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Currently stuck babysitting my shop while it's being refitted overnight. There are six builders out front attacking things with power tools so I'm holed up in the back office with the 'Technicolor Web of sound' cranked up to 11 to drown out the noise. Excellent mix of 60's psych, rock and wierdness - anyone with a passing interest should check it out@

Alco,

Diccus and I saw them at the Sage recently. He was already a fan, but I was new to the band. This record has really grown on me over the last couple of weeks, great stuff.

Nic

.......... pleased you like the Cowboy Junkies. This is rather wonderful too.

OK - but I would reccommend Tatanya Nikolaeyava over Jarrett in this instance

Radu Lupu playing Schubert piano sonatas to close out the evening

Yup! Track 7... 'Run' is really excellent, this is what radio stations played alot of a couple of years back. I got this album on the strengh of this one cool sounding song, a big mistake of course, the rest of the album is very disapointing!
Don't you just hate it when this happens?

ROTF, what do you make of the new PJ effort.....mines not been delivered yet. The songs came across very well live but i've heard mixed reports of this one. Probably becasue its more mellow and doesn't have the same caustic edge to some of her earlier records. Let me know what you think.

Meanwhile I'm listening to The Mountain Goats- The Sunset Tree
