What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

BACH PIANO TRANSCRIPTIONS - 5 ~<>~ HAMISH MILNE

Goedicke ~<>~ Kabalevsky ~<>~ Catoire ~<>~ Siloti

Every track on this album is very satisfying. Hamish Milne's performance is superb and with the close sound of the piano, one can often hear his breathing...
Excellent emotive production, full price CD but well worth the money!

Yes it's a great album, isn't it? Hardly been far from my player since last year. Thanks to John (JN) for the intro.

If you like acoustic guitar recorded literally in the kitchen that sounds fantastic and as raw as you can get then this is the disc for you.

It is not the best live Jackson I have Steve. The tracks are not all from the same concert they are taken from different dates over a tour and there is fade outs which I hate. But love it nonetheless.

However the disc seems to be very rare and expensive now. I got mine off ebay a couple of months ago for $30. Don't think the seller knew what he had but that's his loss as it now goes for $100 +.

Tracks are:
Doctor My Eyes
My Problem is You
In The Shape of a Heart
Take It Easy
For a Dancer
The Pretender
Runnin on Empty
The Load Out
Stay
Somebaby's Baby
Before the Deluge

Hi Ewemon!
This is the first i have by him and i think it's quite a little masterpiece.
The way he plays guitar just touches me.
He has a site on the www and i think that all the acoustic and folk music lovers should take a trip.
