What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Hi Ewemon!
This is the first i have by him and i think it's quite a little masterpiece.
The way he plays guitar just touches me.
He has a site on the www and i think that all the acoustic and folk music lovers should take a trip.
imho

You now have a duty to go and buy all his discs. Wonderful guitar player and I don't think there is anything he has released I haven't liked.

Just on list.
And still i wonder why artists like him don't get the bright lights they deserve.
So........it's up to us now, in the Naim forum!

Jim,

I have got some of CC's work with Clive Gregson, which I really like. Is her solo stuff any good?

I will be playing this tomorrow. Be Bop are from Wakefield pretty close to where I live and used to see them in my local pub. The 1st album "Axe Victim" brings back alot of memories as does Futurama specially "Sister Seagull".

Hi Richard

Simple answer is yes. She has a great voice as you probably know already. With Clive it was more of a band playing together two great musicians together. But Christine on her own for me with her voice well..........

Thanks Jim.

I hadn't considered getting any of her material as she had slipped under my radar, but I will probably order one or two from Amazon.

On another topic, I saw in your profile that you are a Leeds Utd fan. You are the first one I have noticed on here. Things seem a bit more cheerful for us at last.

Bill Nelson = great songs, great lyrics, excellent guitarist and crystal clear vocals (you can hear every word and it's worth it) = highly underrated IMHO.

Had a look at the track list on your album and it looks great. I only have the two albums you mention on the black stuff: bought them years ago and they still sound great.

I remember hearing Be Bop on John Peel in the early 70s and once I heard Bill sing about The Phantom of the Bingo Hall, I just had to listen to his albums ... glad I did.

The Cure on TOP form with this one, and what a fantastic cover, looks great in 12" dimensions.

That's a great record Haim.

Thanks for the other recommendations BTW. Some of which I already have.

I even have no idea about the kind of music he/she/they play but i've been several times close to buy it.

Not sure how to describe it except it sounds very 'Lou Reedish'. It's an excellent album, maybe try some samples of it.
