What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

For those of you who like Kelly Joe Phelps or anyone it that line of work.
His first two albums Rain of Days and Dredge are excellent. I just have to now fork out for his new one.

A chamber group of six young musicians who play the flute, clarinet, violin/viola, cello, piano and percussion to create exquisite contemporary music.

Are you not sick of that disc yet? Did you see my post from earlier. You managed to finally get me to buy a copy of it.

Just dug this out and decided to play it
I know Basia made an EP a few years ago, but cannot find details about it - does anybody know what was on it or if I can still get it.
I know the Canadian release of Oh, My Darling with the extra track is now not due until 30th October; does anybody know what the extra track is? If anybody knows if Basia's album will have vinyl releases then this would be very interesting too.
Many thanks, Rotf

Re girl with floppy hat. What an annoying voice. After recommendations for Vashti Bunyan which I also find a REAL struggle to listen to. Maybe because it sounds like she's having a real struggle to sing it.
Basia Bulat is better than that but not for me.
Just as well we don't all like the same thing though.

I take it you don't like Vashti or Basia then - two of my very favourite artists in the known Universe. Oh well I suppose it's just another diamond day.
BTW I'm currently listening to

Spooky or what?
ATB Rotf
BTW my next purchase will probably be Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind - Singles and Demos 1964 to 1967 by Vashti Bunyan - available on CD and Vinyl (it's a 25 track double album)

Recommending music is really hard - just means I like it really.

ROTF,
The extra track is shown here. No samples unfortunately but the album appears available now from MapleMusic. I suspect the recording quality will be superior to our EU version. I might just get it. I've used MapleMusic before without any problems.

From the first couple of listenings I must say I am disappointed in it. Not the return to form that some of the papers/magazines are saying.
