What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

I would say that it is a daylight music. Too powerful and overwhelming for late evening hours.

Stefan, did you get it or are you staying with his Haydn?

Regards,
Haim

Huw,

How is it? I listened to parts of it and was not convinced.

Marc Hamelin is really doing some playing on his Alkan disc!

Regards and have a goot trip to the motherland.

Haim

Haim,
it's nothing special, but I find it quite therapeutic. I like the concept, but am not sure how it could translate into a concert environment.

The Alkan is breathtaking.

On the iPod - Louis Armstrong Hot 5s. It must have been a wonderful thing to have experienced this music live.

After the superb "Separate Ways", this is a real disappointment.

For fans of old fashioned Country & Western, it may do more.

Saw him live supporting, I think Lucinda Williams and he was IMO very dull and lacking in stage prescence. Good first album tho.

The National on MySpace The few tracks on here are rather wonderful. I'm sure I saw them on jools a year or so back and thought they were class. They then slipped under the Diccus radar.

Just ordered 'Alligator' for a fiver to start me off.
