What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

To me Jim that's probably his best album apart from the couple of discs he made with Bobby King. I think I have all the Terry Evans discs apart from the last one.

Great Evans!

The Bollani/Rava makes more use of the tension beteen young / old, experimenting / wise, energetic / settled, etc. A bit like what happens with Sauer / Wollny in their duo sets. This is not to say that equi-potential players aren't a nice thing to have, of course.

I prefer Bollani / Rava.

Just my opinion, as usual.

Thanks, Stefan.

I can also now listen to The Third Man on the JPC site. I like it.

The Wishbone Ash is in preparation for the new Deluxe version of Argus that's coming out this month. It has a Live at the BBC 1972 disc as the second disc.

The guitar solo on "Get You Lise Straight" Smile

Saw him at the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival about ten years ago, the voice is even more impressive live.

Enjoy your day, Gian

I am sure he was excellent. I have seen him three times, once with the Goners (incudes Sonny Landreth), once backed up by the North Mississippi All-Stars, and the closet I got to your experience was in a songwriters circle but JH only played every 4th number (though the others were excellent - Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely and Guy Clark). Shortly after the songwriters concert he announced his solo acoustic dates with Shawn Colvin opening - was very tempted but there were others to see.

I do envy you. Glad you enjoyed a good show, the man is not only an amazing talent, he is a supreme entertainer.

Completely agree. He should be a lot bigger, but it is nice that he hasn't become spolit by stardom
