What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

"a million miles away" absolutely fantastic song.
SJB - great to have a reply from Ireland on the subject of Rory!
Thanks for tip! Great piccie - though I was actally trying to attach the original silver with red writing rather than the remaster's cover.
In a similar pose, here - I hope! - is my own photo of 'the man' taken at Ipswich 1978, when I was but a young teenager...

No, still not right - I give up!!!

You were nearly there, great picture.
Alas I only managed to see Rory once Feb 8th 1988, ten years after your picture was taken.
A phenomenal guy (band) live.
He had a harmonica player with him on that tour and the duelling was something to be heard.

Just got my first bit of Naim kit today (CDX), and I'm playing Blur - Modern life is rubbish. Bass is fuller and fantastic rythm compared to my old Audiolab 8000CDM/DAC combination. Oh, nice album too.

This is an excellent disc.
He has done so many good CD's on ECM.
I am currently spinning Charles Lloyd - Hyperion with Higgins which is sublime. You should also try Lift Every Voice and my personal favourite - Notes from Big Sur

Adrian.
For some unknown reasons, Canto is the only Lloyd disc that does not bore me to tears.

This is an interesting session for Jarrett. He is very abstract on the opening track and Mysteries is a contemplative piece similar to a John Coltrane spiritual meditation.

Mitsuko Uchida playing late Mozart piano sonatas. Hugely overlooked music from the greatest genius the world has ever known.
