What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

The cover reminds me nicely the photo that you took, recently. Am I right ? (The one with the plant foto'd from the ground into the sky)

And indeed it is! First heard of her on The White Stripes' "Elephant" and then later a track on a Rough Trade Counter Culture compliation a few years ago, it's taken me this long to buy one of her albums. Cute lyrics with a sort of "indie country" style I guess. Her voice actually reminds me a bit of Wanda Jackson who I also like.

Good memory, Stefan.

You came up with your own way of seeing it, making some changes in composition, tones (B&W) and background. We ended with two versions, my original one which was more of a 'where' thing and yours which was more of a 'what'.

The music is very good. Are you familiar with this Austrian ensemble? I am going to see if I can find more of their recordings.

Regards,
Haim

Haim,
haven't heard of them, before. From their web site, it seems, they have only one CD, out. The excerpts though sound very promising. Will order the CD.

Currently with Maria del Mar Bonet - a Catalan singer, based in Barcelona. Did you hear of her ?

Jeff I am currently choosing which cd player to buy. Once I have bought it I will be taking a little picture for system pics and offering a brief explanation for my choices.

In the meantime all I will say is that I am thrilled with what I describe as my 'music, not hifi' equipment.
