What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Just put it on, I only know of her music from this thread. Listened to Ancient Muse yesterday and enjoyed. This is a very good live recording so far and the band includes Danny Thompson on bass, can't go wrong there. This may be out in leftfield, but her music reminds me of Dave Cousins 30 years ago - and that is a magical sound. May have to segue to "Heroe and Heroine" next

There is a very good live Mercy Street on it.
Infact the whole dvd is Great.

Not yet Munch. My Amazon account has taken a battering already...and meeting up with John and yourself is unlikely to improve cash flow.

OH HAPPY DAY!
I just got my hands on three of the four Oscar Peterson "Exclusively for my Friends" recordings I have been after for a while on original VINYL (not SACD/CD's as shown below) for the princely sum of 10 Euros total.
They sound the best I have ever heard a piano trio. lovingly recorded by Peterson's friend Hans-Georg Brunner-Schwer.
GREAT

I am a big Libertines fan and disliked what Pete did to break up the band (and his lifestyle) and swore off ever buying any of his new bands records. I also thought early Babyshambles releases were very poor anyway. But I liked a couple of the more recent singles and Radcliffe and Maconie liked thisLP, so I bought it and it's actually very good. If you like the Libertines, you'll like this. If you didn't you won't...

Jim,
I like it. It's not what I would normally listen to, but it's a nice change and good quality.
I couldn't see it ever becoming part of the pre match routine at Elland Road though!

A friend went to see him this week -someone in the crowd shouted "get on with it" so he stompted off stage. Returned later and raced through the rest of his set. Friend disappointed. He does seem to have a growing reputation as a prima donna. A very talented one mind you.
