What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

A friend went to see him this week -someone in the crowd shouted "get on with it" so he stompted off stage. Returned later and raced through the rest of his set. Friend disappointed. He does seem to have a growing reputation as a prima donna. A very talented one mind you. Smile

Hi Diccus62

I saw and bootlegged Ryan in October 2001, he has a repuation for being difficult. The set was about 40 minutes (!) then he came back for three encore sets totalling another 90 minute (!) and during the last 90 minutes he bantered with the crowd and was totally
endearing.

I have a download of him at a local Portland venue in July past and while he and the band are in top form, the between songs banter is, let's say, very strange.

He is supposedly clean and sober.

A talented, musical, human enigma.

Geoff,

Have you got the others in the series? I picked up Vol 1 (Action) and Vol 2 (Girl Talk) many years ago in a second hand vinyl shop in Liverpool and recently got Mellow Mood from Tony at PFM. Favourite track has to be Tin Tin Daeo on Action.

Regards

Nic

I just got my hands on three of the four Oscar Peterson "Exclusively for my Friends" recordings I have been after for a while on original VINYL (not SACD/CD's as shown below) for the princely sum of 10 Euros total.

They sound the best I have ever heard a piano trio. lovingly recorded by Peterson's friend Hans-Georg Brunner-Schwer.

GREAT

Nic....I have got Vol 1 ACTION on CD but want to get the VINYL version because it should be superior judging by the superb sound from the other 3 volumes which I just got. My favourite track is Satin Doll on Vol 3 (the way I really play).

I also have this one on LP

Title: Exclusively for my Friends - The Lost Tapes.
