What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Gian,
You have always been a good influence but... I think I got my James Cotton disc when you were still attending high school in 1997!

Listening to Micus music is like watching CNN news with their reports sounding more alien by the day.

Conclusion - Kraftwerk sounds very good on a Gyro.
.... the first two Kraftwerk albums (the ones with the traffic cones) are quite different from the later records, but very enjoyable exploratory music, played on a variety of traditional instruments including guitar, bass, electric organ, flute and violin.

Does one and two sound much better on the MTT than the Rega?
Also how would you rate the pressing?
What's it like for back ground noise if any?
People rave about the first pressings of those albums.
Are they as good as they say?
Regards Munch.
Hi munch
Kraftwerk 1 and 2 do have a bit more impact on the Gyro than the P25, but the P25 makes an excellent job of playing them too. The pressings are excellent and so it is a more even playing surface for the two decks that some more challenged records I have. There is no discernible background noise at all. So yes, I would suggest that the pressings are as good as they say. Very nice records IMHO.

Currently playing an old CBS sampler called Together with Spirit, Trees, Argent and so on. It is not on the black stuff, but it is vinyl. This time it is the royal blue stuff and it sounds very good to me. Less surface noise with the Gyro than the P25 (or P9 because I remember thinking it was bit noisy when I had that deck). So the Gyro is winning my affections - wonder just how much better the Orbe is?

Steve....I....errr... posted this on Mon 19, page 1054, maybe not noticed

Warning .....you will find yourself wondering if you should upgrade the DV phono stage

As England are playing today, I thought it only fitting to play Read, White and Blue on the black stuff.

This the limited edition MVI DVD Imported US version. Choice of 5.1 and enhanced 2 ch(which I am listening to). Seems better than the standard CD, not that I think that is bad.
