What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Are all Japanese CDs that much better? Some of the tracks seem better than the US Rhino versions. I thought they were pretty good, oh well.

Some are and some aren't Steve. Drop me an email Steve-- my add is in the Aretha Franklin music post and I will give you some advice to help you on your way. If you want name some of your favourite discs and I will let you know if I have heard the Japanese version and if I think it is better.
I had a listen to a bit of this album at Steve's yesterday and thought i would give it ago. I found it £140.99 on Amazon. Its good but not that good.
Do you know where it can be found at a lot less?
Munch

If you really want it then there is a copy on Amazon US for approx 27 squid including postage. However you will have to get it shipped to a US address.

There is also one on Amazon jp for about 3000 yen which is about 14 squid (I think) but not sure if you can get that shipped out to you.

Thats all I can see at the moment.

Jeff

I know you like Sarah, have you got the Aussie Import "Live Ep'? It really is fantastic. All songs are on past catologue but live and the sound quality is incredible.

Yes I have it on vinyl and it's a bit over country for me too. Not one of her best by a long way.

Stan Tracey - Jazz suite inspired by Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood. 47 years old and sounds as fresh as ever, quite brilliant British jazz.

Again as much as I love Jackson Browne this is not one of his best. But the cd is worth it alone for the track "Sergio Leone", amazing.

Hi Jim

I have it, didn't remember it was an Aussie import, but I think I was surprised it was an ep from the price on amazon, so import could explain that.

Mirrorball is my favorite live SM, the "second" male guitar player (often on acoustic) is terrific, the other guy is flashier, but I like subtle Smile
