What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Hi Gordon, Dicuss, munch
Thanks
Thought you may be interested to know Karine Polwart has recorded two albums worth of material. The first is a collection of traditional songs, titled The Fairest Floo'er on her own Hegri Music label scheduled for release on 10th December. The second album is of her new songs, titled This Earthly Spell scheduled for release in March 2008.
Apparently, The Fairest Floo'er is a dark and intimate affair, which marks a return to traditional Scottish song, where Karine's musical career began almost a decade ago, as a member of folk groups Malinky and the Battlefield Band. The pared down arrangements of ballads and love songs on The Fairest Floo'er feature little else other than sparse piano or guitar accompaniment, with the odd daub of atmospheric colour. The performances showcase her warm and earthy vocals and assured storytelling.
- That's from her web site.

Thanks ROTF,
Yeah I get her email bulletins every so often and they are much better quality than the usual - "Hey Bob Dylan has released a special issue T shirt to commemorate it being Thursday" or some such thing.

Does this mean you are going to replace that old one of yours?
By your sharp today mate

An absolutely iconic picture (shame i'm loitering behind it). As my old mother would have said "Have you not got a hairbrush?"
Keep smiling

Hey Munch, you never made it to Hammersmith for the sheer pleasure of witnessing Diccus inside Bob Dylan

What is I the Mac command for "select copy" I can select the URL or I can select Album Art but I can't seem to select both.
much obliged,
daniel
have found it very easy to locate an album image on amazon.com or at an artists website or anywhere probably, I use a mac so I "control/click" simulataneously with the cursor on the image and choose "copy image address" (I believe if you right click with windows you will get a similar menu and can make that same choice or "copy") then come to music room, reply to this thread, and use the second from right menu option in the row of buttons at the top of the reply screen to "paste" (on mac, apple button to left space bar/V simultaneously) the "image URL" and locate as you wish on your message.
With luck you will get no borders and it will maybe be easier than the way you are trying now.

Have to agree there, my favourite female singer by a mile. I think I'll play Treasure next.

Unfortunately not, but I wouldn't mind some - Herman's Hermits did some great songs and they could play - the record company used some session musicians on tracks like No Milk Today - a guitarist called Jimmy Page and another guy called John Paul Jones (no relation to the singer in Manfred Mann) - Herman's Hermits went on to have 11 top 10 hits: I wonder what ever happened to those session musicians?
Any recommendations for the best F&TD album?
