What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

John Hiatt Y'All Caught? The Ones That Got Away 1979-1985

SJB

SJB,

One of my favourite artists. Is this one any good?

Regards

Richard

It's a greatest hits package form 1989 with the following listing

1. Crush
2. She Said The Same Things To Me
3. Love Like Blood
4. Slug Line
5. She Loves The Jerk
6. My Edge Of The Razor
7. Pink Bedroom
8. It Hasn't Happened Ye
9. Radio Girl
10. I Look For Love
11. Washable Ink
12. Riding With The King
13. When We Ran

to my shame I only have this and Little Head form John Hiatt although I did have Slug Line on cassette of all things years ago.

I'm sure you would have most of the tracks on this on original albums.

As I was listening to it I was thinking I must get some more of his work, what would you recommend?

SJB

Possibly his two worst albums IMHO. You have to get his A&M albums, Slow Turning,Stolen Moments,Perfectly Good Guitar along with Bring the Family. Then buy Walk On which is one of my favourite discs as well as Master of Disaster.

SJB,

I have got some of the tracks here but, if you don't have much else of John Hiatt, there is a lot to recommend.

I would recommend the following:

Bring the Family - absolute clssic
Crossing Muddy Waters
Master of Disaster.

The albums listed by Ewemon are also all good.

Regards

Richard

I'm intrigued as to what you mean.

Taoiseach is the title for the Irish Prime Minister. So to someone from Ireland you are saying "Bertie Ahern again" and I certainly hope the Chieftan's have not sunk that low. Winker

Well, i've found the translation when looking for the list of artists that play in the record and made a mistake.
Sorry.

Death- Individual Thought Patterns.

A classic death metal record, but its a lot more than that. Its such a shame Chuck Schuldiner died so young. He was a fabulous musician.

Probably only available at www.cdbaby.com
Lael is a terrific artist and an even better person. Haven't seen him in several years as my health has kept me home except for 8-5 M-F, but we had some great times with Lael and Amy in the early 00's.

His out of print first disc "Slowdrag" is much like this new one and what got him signed to Geffen, but dropped in the corporate buyouts of the late 90's and the disc was never released nationally. Also has several probably out of print discs under the band names "Lael and the Loved" and the "Bella Fayes" though BF discs may be available at cdbaby.com
