What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Just listened to Damien Rice "0" and "9" consecutively. Almost seems indulgent to soak up the emotion of such performances, which appear so lyrically personal in places. A very rewarding listen but glad there's no 3rd album as I'd be looking for the straight razor or the bottle by now! Having said that I'm looking forward to Lias Hannigan's solo album rumoured to be around the corner!
Lightening things up now with an "official bootleg" 2 CD set of the Deacon Blue concert I was at a couple of weeks ago.(front row centre seats first time ever!)
Ah, well resistance is futile, heading for the bottle after all.
Cheers
Darren

Finally the new Junkies. A grower.... But there's nothing like the original Trinitiy Sessions.
Ciao Stefan!
A record to buy?
If you're into Margo & family, I'd say yes. The "thrill of the unheard" with the early recordings is something else, though. The new "Trinity" is absolutely enjoyable, no doubt.
Answers also Huw's questions, I guess...
cheers, Gianluigi !

Castel Del Monte (first being better than second, IMO) and then Trio Rouge, both involving Michel Godard and companions. Enjoyable. Worthwhile.

... and glad to read on the previous page that I'm not alone in waiting impatiently for Lisa Hannigan's solo CD. A beautiful voice.

Jesse Thomas "Blues is a Feelin'" with John Primer & Jodie Christian. Must get this picture thing going. A fine album, 80 plus year old "new discovery" in the blues field. Course since the album came out he will be an 87 y.o. Hope he's still with us.
