What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Jesse Thomas "Blues is a Feelin'" with John Primer & Jodie Christian. Must get this picture thing going. A fine album, 80 plus year old "new discovery" in the blues field. Course since the album came out he will be an 87 y.o. Hope he's still with us.
Charlie
His Document recorded works 48-58 is also recommended. Think he made his first recordings sometime in the early 30's or late twenties.

What's the verdict? Let's have the full SP, leaving out no detail, no matter how trivial

Haha. I can't believe you'd leave it to the Amazon reviewers.

I'm sorry I just don't have the vocabulary for writing reviews, that are likely to be helpful to anyone.

"American Beauty" Grateful Dead. The HDCD Rhino remaster. Very good indeed.

Started at the Credo in the B Minor Mass, which seems to be going quite well at louder than usual volumes. I'll tell you what, the little set is rather fine turned up a bit!
Suits the mood. Ferrier is incredibly sad in the Agnus Dei. Better turned up a bit ...

"Yard Style Christmas" by Jah Irest Artists.
Don't really do Christmas records usually but I'll always make an exception for this one.

Me neither, but I read somewhere that it was a bit disjointed due to taking parts of tracks.
Is the sound up to the remaster standard?

I suppose I should come out as being a big Morrissey and Smiths fan, recently dragging them all out again as, against all the odds my 16-year old son has become totally obsessed with them!
