What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

There's a lot of good female singer/songwriters about - Cara Loft is worth a listen too. I'll drop you a line later today.

Very nice ROTF

Talking of good female singer/songwriters, I just got delivery this weekend of "Autumn Fallin'" by Jaymay. She is from New York - not quite as smooth as some of your favourites so not sure if she'd suit - a bit in a Regina Spektor/Bob Dylan mould. The whole album is about a relationship break-up which maynot suit every mood I guess! I think it's very very good though.

Gotta dash - train to catch!!

Listening to Planet Rock ATM after using my new acquisition,a large old flame heated copper soldering iron to fix NAIM speaker plugs on to one of my leads. Does a really good job too, lots of heat and a quick job it does, therefore no melted sheathing etc.. It has made no noticeable difference to the sound but I'm pleased anyway.

Please click for samples

If you like Rachel Unthank and then you may just like the excellent, but less well known, Katie Doherty.

White by Alan White's band called White. Alan being the drummer with Yes. Not a prog album, but a melodic, earthy, well-played rock album with great vocals and good hooks.

Thank you Haim for the XMAS wishes. Please receive my good wishes as well.

Off to North-east of France for 10 days end of week where we hopefully find some real winter weather and white stuff.

Regards
Mark
