What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand

Mark,

What do you think of this one?

I am a bit disappointed to be honest. I like the idea, but I am not sure it lives up to all the hype.

I'll give it another try later and see if it grows on me.

Regards

Richard

Hi Richard,

Played it in full for the first time today and, like you, wasn't totally enthralled. But then again, a lot of my favourite albums have taken time to 'grow' on me so I'll stick with it!

Cheers,

Mark

PS You have mail.

Beck, well what can I say only great effort from Mr Eclectic.

Beck - Guero

On 45rpm Vinyl can it get better than this - that was just for Sloop John B

having a cool bopping West Coast vinyl jazz night Daddy'o!
'katanga' by Curtis Amy & Dupree Bolton, 'Playboys' by Chet Baker & Art Pepper (can't find the original awesome LP artwork so have had to show the re-release..shame) and 'landslide' by Curtis Counce. Playboys was the first Jazz Lp I bought (again, probably because of the cover) and still remains one of my favourites...

That's the Album that had to have its name changed because of Hugh Hefner and his heavy lawyers. They changed it to this if i remember right

Having the original artwork and Vinyl I imagine its worth a few quid.

It's a really good album; I was listening to it yesterday afternoon.

'Joyous Encounter' is another Joe Lovano album I'd recommend.
