What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

I haven't played that for years. It's a bit late for it tonight as it needs to be played loud and SWMBO may not appreciate it, but I will dig out my vinyl copy tomorrow when I have the house to myself.

Haim.
Very good record imho!

Agreed, and I had some Charles Lloyd in the endless train ride, today. He's somebody that will stay

Stefan,
I am very surprised that you can find time on the train to play music. I am always so busy on my daily rides listening to people constantly yapping on their cell phones...

Gian,
Did you get some snow in the mountains or are you still tending the grasses?

Regards,
Haim

Jeff,

I have the Arriale's disc you posted in addition to two older ones from 1994 & 1995 (all three on the dmp label).
I think that she had a very good trio though at times her piano playing came across (my impression) as a little too analytical & cool.

Regards and best wishes for the holidays.

Valentin Silvestrov / Bagattelen & Serenaden / ECM

The first part of the disc, the solo piano of 'Bagatellen' is much better than his string music.

Listening to my original Japanese copy I've bought back in Japan.
Never thought I would be playing the very same record on a Sondek 30 years later.

The power of music.
It's timeless.

I would post a picture, but she wears a floppy hat and recorded my choice for album of the year. It just sort of found its way in to the CD player and started to play.
