What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Voice in the Night.
Haim.
Very good record imho!
Agreed, and I had some Charles Lloyd in the endless train ride, today. He's somebody that will stay
Stefan,
I am very surprised that you can find time on the train to play music. I am always so busy on my daily rides listening to people constantly yapping on their cell phones...
Gian,
Did you get some snow in the mountains or are you still tending the grasses?
Regards,
Haim
Re:cell phones in trains, I'm sometimes guilty, myself, but try to (1) use the cell phone areas, only and (2) make use of the very technology (phone) and try not to yell over the distance, at the same time.
Re:not being disturbed - In-ear-headfones are a challenge to use, psychologically but work a treat.

Mark, Never heard any Eric Bibb but for some reason the cover sent me to google and hence to a youtube video. Sound interesting. Is Painting Signs a good place to start or is there some other album which one should perhaps take a punt on?
cheers, Ian

Hi Ian
I really enjoy this album, but the logical place to start would probably be 'Spirit and the Blues', his debut. 'Natural Light' is my personal favourite of his and the added bonus is that they are all great recordings.
That said, his latest, 'Diamond Days' is said to be his best yet, although I haven't heard it so far.
Regards
Mark

Good sound, shame the packaging is such crap. Real challenge to get discs out un-scratched.
Somehow Pagey includes a couple of duffers but no "Battle of Evermore" or "Moby Dick"?![]()
Munch
You were spot on Munch, pity to spoil a good set like that.

Some might say an acquired taste, but I love it. Great music, clever writing and superb sound.

Haim, hello !
Here's a nice JPC story for you: I have ordered a Lisa Knapp CD, half a year ago, and JPC kept telling me that they are still after the importers to get it, so it was back ordered for all this time.
The good news:
Tomorrow, I will receive it.
The bad news:
I had free shipping (50 CD's ?), for the last half year (because there was still the unfulfilled Knapp order...)
Oh, well...
Did you also receive a cristmas present from JPC ? I think you more than earn it !!!
cheers
Stefan

Patti Austin: This Christmas
Just the right tune to celebrate the last work day of the year!
It puts me in the instant Holiday mood.

It's been a long time I've bought any new CD.
I've picked this one up today. A nice chill music.
