What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

A very mixed morning with...
Just the Op.49/(1+2)
Then the Jazz suites followed by Violin concerto No.1 of
and then
F. Chopin - 24 preludes op.28,
Halina Czerny-Stefanska
Haim, Alexandre Tharaud was in concert in Frankfurt last year. I probably should have gone to see him. I bought the Chopin Valses CD quite some time ago and like this. I also like the Alfred Brendel - J.S. Bach Italian Concerto. The Andante is one of my favourite pieces of music.
Regards
Mark

Good morning Mark,
I would love to see Tharaud perform. I hope that he will show up in Chicago one of these days.
If you have a chance get his Bach disc. On top of the famous Italian Concerto, the less known Vivaldi & Marcello brothers concerto transcriptions are wonderful.
You must be very brave playing Shostakovitch early in the morning...
Regards,
Haim

Stefan,
Is that because the music is so good or is it because you were reading again and not paying attention....?
A new (and very late) arrival:

Haim

I remember playing it to some indie musician friends back in the day and they laughed until they heard the guitar solo !
It's also a Chic production which is practically a guarantee of quality.
