What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

I don't think I could ever spend £5 better than this. Daryl Hall's Solo debut, produced by Robert Fripp in 1977. Hall delivers both expected and unexpected vocals, whilst Fripp some of his finest guitar. I never imagined Bob could have produced such a commercial record and the Suits agreed... They shelved the release for 30 months Confused

Order this from Caiman here

Ale, the image you are trying to post appears to be located on the C: drive of your own computer.
You will need to put the image somewhere on the internet(I'm sure some of the others will have suggestions) OR do as I do and use an Image from Amazon(much easier).

regards

Whilst Spring cleaning my cd collection. It's that time of year where stuff I don't listen to anymore goes to make way for new stuff coming in.

Ouch, wasn't that SW's first foray into digital recording? How does it sound on the black stuff compared to his earlier albums?

Its been a while since this one came out of the jewel case. I know I enjoyed it more than this last year, now it just seems slightly uninvolving. Not helped by the fact that Champions drums still sound like they have been recorded in my fathers garden shed with several king size duvets for damping. Perhaps I need to look at some tweaks but I dont have this problem with other artists (Is it this bad on Vinyl)

I don't know SW that well, the album sounds OK, a little "trebley" but I am still getting used to the SBLs so everything seems to have more of everything.
We have several SW albums on vinyl, Innervisions, Songs in the Key of Life and Talking Book, not particularly good copies I seem to remember, but I haven't played them recently, it's mainly SWMBO's music.

The odd island remaster.. Newly packaged with extended packaging and 24bit HDCD literature, then a small white sticker applied saying NOT HDCD.. Still sounds good and only 1.99 from MVC.
