What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Steve Hackett - Voyage of the Acolyte
An all time favourite. The recently remastered version has an extended 17 minute version of the Shadow of the Hierophant - superb

Stina Nordenstam - from 1994. Very interesting album. Worth hearing just for the trumpet solo on track 9 by Jon Hassell

Me too, and really looking forward to it! Have you been to The Lowry before? The Quays Theatre is a nice intimate venue. I saw Ani Difranco there last year and the sound was pretty good as well.

Ahh, Dame Julia. One of our least appreciated imo, have you got her live CD/DVD?

Munch
Personally munch I like it but I just wish they had put the accoustic set on it and Cinammon Girl which is a blistering version. It would have been so much better but having said all that it is still a great disc.
Think I will just pull my copy out for a blast.
The complete show has been available for years as a bootleg.

Alan,
It is very good, I bought it for my dad to spin on his LP12, sounds excellent to my ears, in the context of a naim system (not cheap) a few extra quid on a record is well worth it IMO.
