What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Ah, the best Purple album imo. Nice one.

I have the SACD hybrid (which I usually avoid), in this case I must say the normal CD track on the SACD is better than the CD I had. Have you tried it?

Not at all Steve. I know a few people who reckon that the Hybrid is the way to go.

That's why I play it very quietly - still my next door neighbours. the Blackmores, didn't seem to mind. Though there is a No Stairway rule - if they minded I'm sure they'd just shout Hush Smile

Seriously, one of things I love about Allaes is the performance at low volumes. With the old nSats you needed to whack the watts up a bit to get them singing.

I have the 2CD anniversary edition with the re-master an 1997 re-mixes; not SACD, but sounds great to me. A great album in any format - though not my absolute favourite Purple album.
