What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

What do you think? I've seen Slaid twice now and he is a crackin show.
My favourite Slaid song is 'Lydia' (tho not on this record)makes me cry more than watching Keegan on the telly

Take it steady

He is one of guys who I haven't got totally into. But I have all his discs bar the Holiday ep and Promise. I know his stuff is good and I will grow to like it.

~<>~ Sergey Prokofiev ~<>~ (1891-1953)
London Symphony orchestra ~<>~ Piero Coppola
Sergey Prokofiev ~<>~ Piano
A rather magical quality of play shows though despite the age of these performaces (1932-1935), and best of restoration efforts.
The many short piano pieces tr14 - tr 21 are excellent too and very enjoyable.
Why don't they extract his DNA and clone another Sergey? : )

If you have not seen them put them on your list as must haves.
You can get the first two as a box set.Munch
I was fortunate enough to see Philip Glass & his orchestra perform the soundtrack live whilst they screened the first film at the Barbican. They played at about 11 on the volume dial and it was pretty much a visual/aural overload by the 45th minute. Awesome experience!
