What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Dunno why it's taken me so long to get round to buying this - it's bloomin' marvellous!
Droo,
Anja Lechner has another great disc on ECM "Chants, Hymns & Dances" playing with Vassillis Tsabropoulos (piano) the music of George I. Gurdjieff:

Thanks for the tip Haim, that looks really interesting. In turn, if you don't already have it, I can recommend this solo effort from Vassillis Tsabropoulos:

The album's called Akroasis, in case it isn't clear.
Right now I'm listening to another "purchase", funded by trading in some old CDs yesterday:

It verges on bland at times, but I don't hink it oversteps the line. Very chilled relaxing music for Sunday AM, but maybe not one for jazz purists?

Ms Wilson 'Travelling Miles'......not distance miles but rather Davis,Miles
Note...newly reissued with different cover picture on 2X LP with added tracks including a fantastc version of 'Tutu' with lyrics.

Abercrombie's latest is a very good listen - third release with the quartet of Abercrombie, Marc Johnson, Mark Feldman and Joey Baron

Sometimes it takes more than just a few listens or months to appreciate the value and beauty of a recording:

not that I am a jazz purist, (I hope, because how boring would THAT be...) but I have refrained from purchasing this one (I do have and like the other, recent Katche, though) after some listening in the shop.
oh well, you can't buy them all...

Thanks Droo,
I started with Akroasis which led me to the others as well as to 'Triangle'.

You are right, Stefan.
This one, though, took just a couple of seconds...

Agreed - my Amazon wish list is dispiritingly long. Playground would not have been my first choice, but that's the practicalities of trading in CDs for you. I'm glad my hand was forced, though, as it's a very likeable album.
