What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Diccus,
Maria Bobone has a second excellent disc on MA, 'Luz Destino':

Another good one (though a bit melodramatic) is by Misia:

And an interesting combination of classical & fado music (very low ratings on Amazon) 'Tears of Lisbon: Music of Portugal from the Renaissance Through Today's Fado':

Haim

You've done it now, ROTF - my wife's just seen me coming downstairs with 'The Golden Road' and 'beyond Description' Boxes and she's not looking HP - I'm getting one of those looks. Oh well, better a 'Dead' widow than a golf widow...here goes...

You've inspired me to give that a spin too - what a great record.
I'm sure Mrs von Zipper will warm to Unbroken Chain ....

Shame, its a nice thick bit of vinyl but a very bad recording.
I think I used to have that record - seem to remember it as sounding OK - has it got California Earthquake on it? I may have had Golden Hits - I know it had that track on it, which is unusual for a M&P compilation.

This guy reminds me of a cheesy piano player at the Bellagio piano bar.

Only up to Track 4 and this is good. I think this may have been one of Bruce Hazen's recommendations, so I thank you.
Denis
You are welcome Denis!
Now: have you heard Robert Harrison's solo project/band, Future Clouds & Radar?

Cheers
Bruce

Just over 72 minutes of beautifully played
Bach Piano Transcriptions by Hamish Milne...
Hamish Milne, as explained in the sleevenotes,
was born and grew up in Salisbury...
Anyone ever heard of that place before? : )

Current 93 - "Of Ruine or Some Blazing Starre"
David Tibet's music seems pretty unique, combining elements of arcane religious knowledge, weird blood based imagery with an enthusiasm for kittens.

Hi Peter,
You are welcome. I might be seeing John again this week (more CC damage, I suspect). It will be interesting to hear from you when you have had a listen.
Meanwhile:
