What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Beautiful and stunning vocals - not many opera buffs post on this thread it seems.

After 8 Dead albums in a row, Mrs VZ is now in control of the CD player and forcing me to listen to her entire Depeche Mode back catalogue ( which to be honest, isn't really all that much of a punishment - it could have been her Goth collection)Currently playing :

I love opera, Ian! Trouble is, family don't. And you should have seen most of the East Anglian Massive run for the hills (or second helping of pud) at our gathering here in November, when we put on Big Lucie and Monserrat doing Non piangere, Liu etc in the Decca Turandot. Shameful... Big Grin

After those Dead albums yesterday and some Tull and Family earlier today - thought I'd round off with JA. These are my two favourite JA elpees.

BTW VZ nothing wrong with a bit of Bella Lugosi's Dead every now and then - if it means you can play 8 albums by Lesh, Garcia and Weir et al.

ROTF - Good Choice Sir! (Although I have trouble picking a fave out of the first 5 lps - they are all brilliant in places)
Yes, you're absolutely right, we have a democratic music policy in our house - suffer others music as you would make them suffer yours! - although I'm extremely fortunate that apart from my 'Marty Robbins Greatest Hits'(inherited from my father), my wife is extremely tolerant of even my most distasteful choices. I guess thats partly why I married her!
And as for the Goth, I really don't mind, it's just when the black lipstick and plastic fangs come out, I start to get nervous...

Ahhh, we've found a happy medium (& I don't mean Alison Dubois)
